What’s the difference between a septic tank and a treatment plant?
A septic tank just settles solids; the liquid still needs a drainage field to treat it in the ground. A treatment plant actively treats the water with air and bacteria, producing a cleaner effluent that can (within limits) discharge to a watercourse.
